Boys hockey: Eastern CT Eagles fall D2 state favorite East Haven
NORWICH, Conn. — Stonington’s Wyatt Verbridge scored a goal for the Eastern CT Eagles in Saturday’s 8-3 non-conference loss to East Haven at the Rose Garden Ice Arena. The Eagles (2-5-1) trailed by one goal — 4-3 — after two periods against the Yellowjackets (10-0) one of the favorites to win the Division 2 state championship. “We gave them all they could handle,” Eagles coach Eric Sager said. “It got away from us in the third, however, it was hard fought the whole way.” The Eagles face Guilford on Wednesday at East Haven High School’s DiLungo Rink. — Rich Zalusky
