4. Mike McCoy

An Allen connection, McCoy served as the Denver Broncos offensive coordinator on the same staff as Allen did in 2011. Further, the two played head-to-head as AFC West head coaches as Allen’s Oakland Raiders faced McCoy’s San Diego Chargers in 2013-14, so there is familiarity there as well.

McCoy, now the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterbacks coach, is an experienced offensive coordinator, serving in the role for the Broncos as well as the Arizona Cardinals in 2018. However, though the two shared a staff for one season, it’s unclear how close the pair is to each other. Add the fact that Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence regressed in 2023 and the Saints may be hesitant to bring in his quarterbacks coach, even with as much experience as McCoy has.
