5. Ohio State

When he was being recruited, Downs visited Ohio State and the Buckeyes were one of his finalists when he ultimately committed to Alabama. Now, just over a year later, Ohio State could win Downs services this time around.

While Downs’ original recruiter, Perry Eliano, is no longer with the Buckeyes, the safety is familiar with his replacement. Ohio State’s new safeties coach Matt Guerrieri was on the Buckeyes staff when they originally offered Downs back in 2021 and he was also on the Indiana staff when they were recruiting him before last season. While the two may not have the strongest relationship, Downs’ familiarity with Guerrieri and the Ohio State program as a whole could be enough to convince him to join the Buckeyes.
