Cosumnes River Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competes at Jiu-Jitsu World League

STOCKTON, Calif. — I’m thrilled to share with you the remarkable journey our academy embarked upon this past Saturday, January 20th, at the Jiu-Jitsu World League in Stockton. We had the honor of having 8 dedicated competitors represent Cosumnes River Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on the grand stage of martial arts.

First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to each and every one of our competitors. Their unwavering dedication, courage, and positive attitude displayed at the tournament are truly commendable. Witnessing our youth take strides in their personal development fills me with immense pride.

In the world of martial arts, the path to mastery mirrors the forging of a sword, marked by intricate phases: Forging and Training, Tempering and Refinement, Sharpening and Mastery, Balance and Harmony, Resilience and Flexibility, Beauty and Artistry, and Legacy and Tradition.

As the head coach, it’s my responsibility to guide our students on their individual journeys within the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. There’s no better way to assess their progress than through rigorous competition. It’s a crucible where one’s true abilities shine, and as they say, “The mats Never Lie.”

Our competitors faced no easy matches, and some found themselves in brackets teeming with formidable opponents who would go on to earn multiple medals.

Among the standout moments, Zoey Price secured a gold medal with a remarkable triangle choke from guard. Lee Cleland faced adversity with grace, overcoming a challenging call and proceeding to dominate his division, earning a well-deserved bronze. Lilah Wiley’s matches were against champions, and though the scoreboard didn’t always favor her, her tenacity and spirit shone brightly. Keep an eye on Charlotte Sheile; her technique is razor-sharp, and she faced formidable opponents who later clinched medals in the no-gi division.

A heartfelt congratulations to all our competitors: Zoe Price (Gold), Lee Cleland (Bronze), Jay Leonard (Bronze), Ethan Leonard, Lily Ramondi, Mason Wilbur, Zoey Price, Lilah Wiley, Charlotte Sheile, Lee Cleland, and Jay Leonard—these dedicated individuals made us proud throughout the day.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Together, we continue to grow and excel in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
