Joe Barry fired; 5 Packers defensive coordinator candidates
1. Ejiro Evero
Evero has secured multiple head coach interviews over the past couple of offseasons and he may land a job in that capacity soon. However, if he doesn’t become a head coach, Evero would be a home-run hire as defensive coordinator in Green Bay. Evero worked with the Packers as a defensive quality control coach in 2016 and worked on the same staff as LaFleur with the Rams in 2017. He remained on Sean McVay’s staff until 2021 before becoming the defensive coordinator of the Broncos in 2022 and held the same role with the Panthers in 2023. Despite a 2-15 record, Carolina ranked No. 4 in total defense under Evero. The 43-year-old also interviewed for the Packers’ defensive coordinator opening in 2021 and would fit well with the young talent Green Bay has on that side of the ball.
