Sewanee's men's lacrosse team tied for second in the Southern Athletic Association Preseason Coaches Poll The Tigers earned two first-place votes with 30 points overall in the preseason poll of league coaches Sewanee was co-champions of the SAA regular season with Centre as both teams went 5-1 in conference play Reining conference coach of the year, Nick DiBernardo graduated 10 seniors and brings in 18 freshmen DiBernardo returns seven of ten All-SAA Selections, Jack Seltner, Joe Orem, Jake Cohen, Alec Jazaeri, Drew Perun, and Greg Ix Seltner forced the third-most caused turnovers in the league with 25 and collected 40 ground balls Orem forced 11 turnovers and picked up 33 ground balls, and Cohen caused 10 turnovers and 29 ground balls Jazaeri totaled 12 caused turnovers and 27 ground balls Perun collected 59 ground balls and won 112 of 197 attempts for 56.9% Ix posted an 8-4 record with 107 saves and a 9.96 goals-against average The Tigers must replace first-team honoree Ashton Anton who scored 22 goals, tallied 28 points, and picked up 14 ground balls Luke Valentine, scored 25 goals and added five assists for a .278 shooting percentage Gillenwater scored 20 goals and eight assists for 28 points with 19 added ground balls Wycoff totaled 18 points with 12 goals and six assists with 12 ground balls Centre topped the poll with four first-place votes and 33 points, Sewanee and Rhodes are tied with second with 30 points apiece Rhodes collected one first-place vote The Tigers open their season at home on February 10 against Transylvania at 3 pm Sewanee will co-host a tournament in Nashville on February 17 and 18 at Ensworth High School as they face Capital University and LaGrange College The Tigers will host Oglethorpe University on March 17 to open their conference slate The quarterfinals of the SAA Tournament will be hosted on April 20
