MIT Men’s Basketball Team Secures Road NEWMAC Win Against Salve Regina

The MIT men's basketball team defeated Salve Regina 86-81 in a road NEWMAC win. First year Will Bland, sophomores Tim Minicozzi, senior Spencer Lin, first year Merlin Gogolin, and first year Isaac Dobie were the five MIT starters who scored in double-figures. MIT's record is 4-15, 3-7 NEWMAC, while Salve Regina's record is 10-10, 4-7 NEWMAC. The game took place at the Rodgers Recreation Center in Newport, R.I. Salve Regina went on a 13-0 run to pull ahead 30-22, but MIT rallied and won the game 86-81. First year Merlin Gogolin put MIT back in the lead with a layup with 2:14 remaining. MIT scored 26 points off 17 Salve Regina turnovers. The game featured strong performances from Bland, Minicozzi, Lin, Dobie, and Gogolin. The MIT men's basketball team will face NEWMAC for Babson in their next game on January 31 at Rockwell Cage.
