Babson Defeats MIT 84-68 in NEMWAC Battle

- Score : Babson - 84, MIT - 68 - Records: MIT (4-17, 4-8 NEWMAC), Babson (10-11, 6-6 NEWMAC) - Location: Cambridge, Mass. (Rockwell Cage) - First year Will Bland (Virginia Beach, Va.) set up classmate Merlin Gogolin (New York, New York) for back-to-back jumpers to open the scoring for the Engineers. - The teams played a tightly contest first 10 minutes of the half with the largest lead being four points by the Beavers. - Gogolin gave MIT a 22-20 lead at 9:31, and senior Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) made it a four-point Engineer lead at 8:27. Bland scored four straight points to put the hosts up 28-22 with 6:48 left in the half. - Babson built a nine-point lead, but Lin got the Engineers to within three with his shot from deep at 13:11 to make the score 50-47. - Dobie finished with a team-high 17 points and pulled down six rebounds. Gogolin added 16 points and had a team-leading seven boards. Bland finished with 16 points and four assists and, Lin added 10 points. - Babson was led by Aidan Horan with 20 points, and Timmy O'Toole finished with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. - The Beavers went 23-24 from the charity stripe including a perfect 17-17 in the second half. MIT finished 18-26 from the line.
