10 agonizing ways NFL champions lost their Super Bowl rings
Lost 49ers Super Bowl ring returned by a Starbucks worker
John Macaulay earned his ring as a member of the Super Bowl XIX (1985) team with the San Francisco 49ers.
In 2013, Macaulay left his dazzling bling inside a bathroom at Mineta San Jose International Airport, according to the San Jose Mercury News. An employee at the airport Starbucks found the ring and proceeded to turn it into lost and found.
“[The fact that my Super Bowl ring wasn’t stolen] refreshed my belief in humanity, Macaulay told the Green Bay Press Gazette.
The Starbucks employee later noted, “I didn’t know what it was.”
