Ranking the best Big Ten basketball players at midway point
8. Kel’el Ware, C, Indiana
Ware is one of a couple of transfers on this list and is also one of the brightest young talents the Big Ten has to offer in just his second season of college basketball. The 7-foot center is vital for an Indiana team that is around the middle of the pack in the Big Ten and the Hoosiers found that out while Ware was briefly sidelined due to an ankle injury recently. On the season, Ware is averaging just shy of 15 points and over nine rebounds while shooting an efficient 56% from the field. The athletic big man also is a terrific defensive post presence for the Hoosiers and blocks 1.7 shots per game. Although inconsistent at times, Ware has posted five games with 20 or more points this season for Indiana and is poised for a second-half breakout.
