WFHS great Larry Shields recently passed away

Wichita Falls High great Larry Shields passed away Jan. 27 after a long bout with illness. Shields is regarded as one of the greatest football players to ever come out of Wichita Falls, leading the Coyotes to three state championship games, with the Coyotes winning it all in 1961. He will forever be the Coyotes’ all-time leading rusher with 4,405 yards. His best season came during the state championship year, finishing with 1,745 yards.
