Estancia girls soccer team wins 2024 Orange Coast League Championship

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Head Coach Josh Juarez and Assistant Coaches Bryan Price, Desiree Mendoza, Jocelyn Pacheco and Merlin Serpas are extremely proud of the Estancia Girls Soccer team, now 2024 Orange Coast League Champions. “We really have a well-balanced team,” said Coach Juarez. The girls have worked hard and it shows with an overall record (as of February 5, 2024) of 16-3-1 and League games of 11-1. Of their twenty games so far, an impressive 13 of them were complete shutouts.

The coaches admire how the girls act as a cohesive team, in protecting the goal and in scoring goals. The coaches give the girls great credit for their teamwork, and Coach Juarez takes special notice that “the goals scored have been spread out around the team.”

The team worked to improve with every game and persevered to bring home the League Championship title. Senior Captains Ana Pacheco and Ava Johner, along with senior leaders Arleth Flores and Sarah Hernandez all take an active part in showing the team dedication and a strong work ethic. “All 4 seniors have led by example all season long – by their commitment to be at practice every day and their work ethic on the field. They each lead in their own way and have all had an impact on their teammates,” said Coach Juarez

At the beginning of each season, the coaches speak to the returning players about the importance of welcoming and building relationships with new members of the team, especially the freshmen who are new to the school. The coaches value this important step as essential to accomplish the goals they set for the team. “Year after year, I feel this is something our team has been successful with, and the tone has always been set by our Seniors to lead by example with building those relationships,” said Coach Juarez.

The coaches set the goal, but it’s the girls who grow the desire within themselves. “Belief became infectious with our team. With every game, belief that we could have a special team spread throughout our group,” said Coach Juarez. And as a team, they brought home the Orange Coast League Championship title. Congratulations girls! Go Eagles!
