Top 10 NCAA softball players entering the 2024 season
8. Taryn Kern, IF, Stanford
Kern is one of a couple of players on this list who will be wearing a different uniform in 2024 after she transferred from Indiana to Stanford in the offseason. The 5-foot-7 infielder is also one of the brightest young talents in college softball as she will be in just her second season in 2024. As a freshman, Kern earned Big Ten Player of the Year honors as she finished second in the nation in home runs (23) with a .942 slugging percentage that was the third-best among Division I players. Kern was also top five in the country in RBIs (68) and on-base percentage (.578) while hitting .404 overall on the year. The sky’s the limit for the rest of Kern’s collegiate career as she joins a talented Stanford squad that has a good lineup and also features dominant sophomore pitcher NiJaree Canady.
