Steve Wilks fired; 5 DC candidates for San Francisco 49ers
Kris Kocurek
Kocurek may be the immediate favorite for the job. The 45-year-old has served as the team’s defensive line coach since 2019 and is viewed as a rising assistant with the chance to be a head coach one day. He has had plenty of talent to work with throughout his time with the 49ers, but he has been able to make sure that his group plays up to that standard. Expect him to receive a DC opportunity very soon, even if it is not in San Francisco.
This is a 2-part clip that shows an example of a great coaching point for strip sacks.
When I was at Niners camp (while next to a speaker) I got a shot of DL coach Kris Kocurek teaching the linebackers to "Reach, don't swipe!" when going for the ball.
Might make a video on it. pic.twitter.com/wSsvTudz4y
