Southwood basketball’s Jeremiah Evans, now mentioned alongside school legends Paul Marshall and Alana Beard, has signed with Louisiana Lafayette. Evans will lead the No. 6-seeded Cowboys (23-8) into the 2024 LHSAA Select Division I playoffs next week. He tore an ankle ligament during a Nike DYBL tournament but was steadfastly supported by ULL, who he will play for next. Evans, with averages of 22 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, and two assists per game, credits learning from NBA great John Lucas. His most memorable game was against archrival Captain Shreve last season, when he posted 30 points and 15 rebounds in a one-point District 1-5A victory. Evans, who attended Southern Hills Elementary and Walnut Hill Middle School, is looking forward to his next level experience on the Division I level and beyond.
