Lapel Upsets No. 1 Tipton in Boys Basketball Showdown, Bulldogs Win 67-56

LAPEL — Lapel upset Class 2A No. 1-ranked Tipton 67-56 in a boys basketball game on Thursday. The Bulldogs (18-5) led 13-9 after the first quarter, 26-21 at halftime and 43-37 after the third quarter. They went on to beat the Blue Devils, extending their winning streak to 13 games. Tipton closes the regular season 21-2. The Blue Devils will face Elwood in the Class 2A Tipton Sectional’s opening game on Tuesday. Tipton and Lapel could meet again. If both teams win their sectionals, they would meet in a one-game regional.
