Bates Nordic Skiing Teams Shine at Middlebury Carnival, Secure Sixth Place Finish

Ripton, Vt. -- The Bates Nordic skiing teams continued their strong weekend Saturday at the Middlebury Carnival, which doubles as the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships, with four Bobcats placing in the top 30 of the 20K classical technique races. Senior captain Cal Schrupp (Gilford, N.H.) led the men's team to a sixth-place finish out of 11 schools, taking 20th out of 61 skiers with his time of 52:35.6. He earned 23 carnival points and 11 NCAA points for his efforts.
