South Carolina women’s soccer head coach Shelley Smith has been named to the Vermont Principals’ Association Hall of Fame, Class of 2024. Smith was an exceptional 3-sport athlete at Mount Anthony Union High School from 1985-89 and a two-time All-American in soccer. She captained soccer, basketball, and softball teams during the 1987-88 school year, leading all three to state championships. A 1993 graduate of the University of Vermont, Smith started all four years for the Catamounts and was a regional All-American in both 1992 and 1993. She currently coaches the University of South Carolina women’s soccer team, with a remarkable record of 306-136-60 (.669) over 24 seasons, leading the Gamecocks to 17 NCAA tournament appearances, including a College Cup appearance in 2017. Smith has experience at the semi-professional level and as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College.
