Central’s Johnson gains all-conference women’s hoops honors

PELLA—Central College's Abby Johnson (junior, Ankeny) was named to the American Rivers women's basketball all-conference squad. Johnson, a 5-foot-11 guard, was a first-team selection. Allison Van Gorp (junior, Pella, Pella Christian HS) received honorable mention after landing second-team honors in her first two seasons. In 25 games, Johnson averaged a team-high 13.2 points along with 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals. She led the team with 60 3-point goals and shot a team-high 45.5% from 3-point range along with 48.1% from the field.
