City of Milton/Halftime Sports undefeated 4th/5th grade boys basketball champs

MILTON, Ga. — In Milton’s Halftime Sports 4th and 5th-grade basketball league, one team truly stood out this season: Team Showtime. With a perfect record of 12-0, these young players have proven themselves as champions, both on and off the court.

Under the direction and leadership of their head coach John Lee and assistant coach Paul Van Beneden, throughout the season, Team Showtime focused on three important things: sharing, trust, and never giving up.

In today’s competitive youth sports environment, where many seem to focus on individual scores, Team Showtime was different. They believed in working together as a team. It didn’t matter who scored the most points — it was all about helping each other and winning together. This teamwork made them trust each other, so when tough moments did arrive, they knew their teammates had their backs.

Their journey to the championship had some exciting moments, like two games that went into overtime. Imagine how nervous their fans were for them, you could feel the parental excitement in the stands as their players tried to clinch the wins. Since they believed in teamwork, Team Showtime usually played better in the second half of their games and won by a lot of points most games, many times with double digit leads. They scored more than any other team in the league — 498 points in total.

Now, as the season has ended, Team Showtime walks off the court not just as a great basketball team. They have shown everyone what you can do when you work hard, not just as individuals but by working together as a team. Their coaches are happy and believe these skills will help the players in their lives, not just on the basketball court. They’re sure these kids will become leaders in the future.

These young athletes are ready for whatever comes next, both in basketball and in life thanks to coaches focusing on the importance of player development overall which in came in handy on the court this season but will but will be an asset they carry with them off the court as they pursue the fun that life has in store for each of them.
