Cougars snap Crimson’s state tournament streak
The Maple Grove boys’ hockey season ended at least one game earlier than they would have hoped. On Feb. 29, Maple Grove and Centennial played in the Section 5AA championship game at the Furniture and Things Community Event Center in Elk River. Centennial scored four unanswered goals during a 5-2 win over the Crimson. After falling behind 1-0, Maple Grove scored late in the first and tied it before the first intermission. Centennial countered with two quick power-play goals in the second and the Crimson weren’t able to get another goal until just over two and a half minutes left...
