Michael Thomas released; 5 landing spots for former OPOY
3. Atlanta Falcons
Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot was a longtime member of the New Orleans front office from 2013-20, so he knows Thomas’ talents and the two may have a relationship. Atlanta needs a new wideout after overhauling its offensive scheme this offseason and with only wideout Drake London surpassing the 300-yard mark among Falcons’ wide receivers.
While Atlanta does hold a top 10 draft pick in the upcoming NFL draft, it has several other needs on the roster including quarterback, so it could be interested in adding a receiver. While Thomas doesn’t necessarily fit the young offense in terms of age, he could bring veteran leadership and experience to the locker room while also having the opportunity to play his former team twice a year which could appeal to him.
