Top 10 Pennsylvania HS baseball players in Class of 2024
10. Jay Slater, C, Downingtown West
Slater is one of the elite backstops in Pennsylvania, in what is a deep position group for the state’s high schools. Last year for the Whippets, the 6-foot, 193-pound catcher hit .431 BA with a .486 on-base percentage, .661 slugging percentage and 1.148 OPS while registering 28 hits, 18 RBIs, four home runs and three doubles. This was enough to earn Slater to earn first-team all-area designated hitter honors from PA Prep Live.
Slater is considered one of the top recruits in the state, ranking No. 10 in Pennsylvania by national recruiting site Perfect Game. The catcher signed with the Duke Blue Devils on Nov. 8.
