Valdosta joins region baseball play

VALDOSTA — The opening week of Region 1-7A baseball saw no sweeps and Lowndes and Colquitt County both atop the standings. Lowndes went 2-1 in games against Richmond Hill, with Colquitt doing the same against Camden County. Series this week are Valdosta-Camden and Lowndes-Colquitt. Both local teams were on the road Tuesday with home doubleheaders set for Friday. With an odd number of teams in 1-7A, Valdosta had to wait a week to begin conference play. Richmond Hill is the team playing non-region games this week.
