Top 10 players from the East Region of the NCAA Tournament
1. Tristen Newton, G, UConn
The best player on the nation’s best team, Newton is the easy choice for the top spot on this list. He is averaging 15.2 points, seven rebounds and six assists, good for top 20 in the nation, so far this season. Newton helped lead his Huskies squad to a Big East regular season and tournament championship while earning unanimous first-team all-conference and first-team AP All-American honors.
With UConn entering the tournament as the field’s No. 1 overall seed, all eyes are on the Huskies to see if they can repeat. Given his All-American status and clear leadership role on the team, Newton will be tasked with trying to lead his squad to the first back-to-back national titles since the Florida Gators in 2006-07.
