MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sophomore Charlie Spurrell won the hammer and first-year Jacob Shine won the shot put as the throwers from the Amherst College men’s track and field team opened the outdoor season at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic on Saturday at Wesleyan University’s Andersen Track. The Mammoths return to action next weekend with a trip to Bryant University for the Black and Gold Invitational.
