KANSAS CITY, MO. - Senior Anya Chavez (Regina, Canada) produced the first Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association women's tennis Player of the Week award of the 2024 season for Missouri Western State. Chavez registered the Week Six honor. She turned in a pivotal set of victories at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to allow the Griffons to top Southwest Baptist 4-3 March 21. Chavez defeated SBU's Paula Ballesteros 7-5, 6-2 and then joined with junior Greta Langiu (Modena, Italy) for a 6-4 decision in doubles. MWSU continues its spring slate against Northeastern State Saturday, March 30.
