Men’s Tennis Drops LEC Opener to Bridgewater State
RUTLAND, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton men’s tennis team’s four-game winning streak was snapped by Little East Conference foe Bridgewater State in a 7-2 loss Saturday afternoon. The Spartans (4-1, 0-1 LEC) endured setbacks at the first and third doubles slots before the No. 2 pair of Khiem Nguyen/Jason Lipscomb bagged a gritty 8-6 triumph. Tom Ayson’s 6-3, 7-5 victory over Miki Almirall at singles No. 2 and a big third-flight win by Matthew Krampf extended the Bears’ (1-1, 1-0 LEC) lead to three.
