Sydney Hastings, a 2025 catcher and shortstop for Firecrackers Wallace 16u, committed to the University of Michigan, her dream school, on Oct. 18, 2023. Like many other softball players, Hastings got her start in the local rec league. When she was 8 years old, she began playing shortstop for the Saline Stingerz, the 10u team in her hometown.
