Trey Townsend transferring: 5 possible landing spots
Kentucky Wildcats
There’s likely to be a long list of teams interested in bringing in Townsend and that could include Kentucky who saw the forward’s talent first hand as Oakland upset the Wildcats in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Another early tournament exit could have John Calipari looking to blend more experience into what have typically been freshman-led rosters during his tenure, making Townsend a nice potential fit. The Wildcats will lose several leading scorers to the NBA this offseason while fifth-year seniors Antonio Reeves and Tre Mitchell are out of eligibility. Calipari has some young size coming in with Jayden Quaintance, Karter Knox and Billy Richmond, but Townsend seems like a better fit to replace Mitchell at this point while also likely offering more offensive production.
