Verdigris, Wagoner, Fort Gibson dominate Verdigris Valley basketball honors

Oologah’s Eli DeSpain and Catoosa’s Titus Miller were selected as the Verdigris Valley Conference most valuable players by league coaches in boys basketball this season. Girls MVPs are Verdigris’ Kate Wiginton and Fort Gibson’s Addy Whiteley. Verdigris swept the boys and girls coaching honors in the North — Chris Houk (boys) and Mike Buntin (girls). Wagoner’s girls received numerous honors as Randi Pawpa was named South coach of the year while two of her players, Gracy Shieldnight and Cambri Pawpa, were voted on the first team, and two others were picked for the second team.
