Caitlin Clark: 7 fun facts about the Iowa Hawkeye star

IOWA CITY, Iowa (BVM) – Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark is elevating the popularity of women’s college basketball to new heights.

Get to know more about Clark with these seven fun facts.

Caitlin Clark’s dream board from childhood

“My mom has this piece of paper from when I was in like second or third grade,” Clark said in an ESPN Inside Look interview. “It has like you write down all of your dreams in these little bubbles. I remember one of them was ‘play in the WNBA’ and ‘earn a basketball scholarship.’”

Clark’s dream board from elementary school was provided to ESPN, and is listed below:

  1. “Be in the WNBA”
  2. “To live in a huge mansion”
  3. “To have three of four kids”
  4. “To get married”
  5. “To own a restaurant”
  6. “To win the lottery”
  7. “To be in a basketball movie”
  8. “To be strong”
  9. “To go on a basketball scholarship”
  10.  “To meet Maya Moore”

Caitlin Clark also makes smart moves in the classroom

In high school, Clark maintained over a 3.8 GPA while taking advanced geometry and chemistry classes, per The Des Moines Register.

Clark is now an honors student majoring in marketing at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business. She is expected to graduate with her undergraduate degree before heading to the WNBA.

Caitlin Clark’s competitive nature started from day one

“When I was younger I really struggled with understanding losing,” Clark said in an ESPN Inside Look interview. “… I got in trouble in school all the time for wanting to win so bad. I got kicked out of PE class because I was so competitive.”

A family home video obtained by Full Court Press, shown below, details the fact that Clark learned to ride a bike without training wheels only because she wanted to outdo her brother.

Caitlin Clark loves to bake

One of Clark’s biggest interests outside of basketball is cooking and baking.

Clark is known for her chocolate-chip pancakes, brownies, chocolate chip cookies that she’ll eat before bed – and almost anything else that involves chocolate.

 Caitlin Clark loves dogs

Clark’s sidekick is her golden retriever, Bella. She even has a lifesize cardboard cutout of her dog that she occasionally places on the sidelines of the basketball court.

Caitlin Clark’s pregame ritual

How does the greatest college basketball player get ready for a game? With some Go-Go Squeeze, of course; Clark told NCAA Digital Media that her go-to snack before a game is the apple sauce brand which is often marketed for children.

Clark has also noted that her go-to warm-up song is “Intro” by Meek Mill.

Her pregame warmup was recorded by StrictlyBBall and can be viewed below.

Caitlin Clark is a practicing Catholic

Clark hasn’t been shy about expressing her Catholicism ever since she was in high school.

“I just took a test over the sacrament of Baptism,” Clark told The Des Moines Register as a high schooler in 2018. “This class is the reason I go to Dowling. We get to live our faith every day. Dowling starts every day with prayer and ends every day with prayer.”

When Clark makes visits to her hometown of Des Moines, she tries to attend St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, which is her family’s home parish.
