ROCHESTER, NY – The #2-ranked Nazareth men’s lacrosse team officially slayed the dragon on May 17, 1992 as the Golden Flyers defeated long-time nemesis, and #1 ranked Hobart, 13-12 in overtime to advance to the NCAA Division III Championship game. Marty Kelly’s goal :24 seconds into overtime lifted Nazareth into the championship game, it defeated Roanoke 22-11 for its first lacrosse national title. The win over Hobart broke an 0-8 all-time record against the Statesmen for Nazareth, including 0-3 in postseason play. Nazareth lost 17-12 in 1988, 14-10 in 1989, and 19-17 in 1991.
