Track and Field Enjoys Successful Day at Braves Open

PEMBROKE, N.C. – On Saturday afternoon at the UNC Pembroke Braves Classic, the Newberry College Track and Field team won a combined six events – four on the men's side and two on the women's. Tyler Shumate dominated the men's 1500-meter run in 4:12.49 to win by over three seconds. Kevin Kipkosgei also put on a clinic in the 5000m event as he clocked in at 16:35.05, 17 seconds ahead of the pack. Larry Scott won the men's 800m dash with a time of 2:00.63. Rounding out the triumphant day for the men was Shamar Brown in the 400m hurdles....
