Liberty North swimmer Avery True wins gold at Missouri Class 2 state championships

SAINT PETERS, Mo. — Liberty North senior swimmer Avery True won two first-place gold medals at the Missouri Class 2 State Championships to go along with the two she won last season. This year, she won the 200 Yard Freestyle in a new state record time of 1:48.63, and 100 Yard Freestyle, 50.48. True broke the MSHSAA state record in the 500 Free in last year’s championships at 4:54.33.

“Avery upended the defending State Champ in the 100 Free, winning that in exciting fashion,” says assistant swim coach Katie Dowden. This season, she anchored our 200 Free Relay, which took 5th in the state, and our 400 Free Relay, which finished 8th. She was a huge piece in our 8th overall ranking in the state this season and our first All-American in school history last season (she will no doubt earn that honor again this year).”
