Meet Liberty wrestler, state champion Lilly Breeden

LIBERTY, Mo. — The history-making Liberty Blue Jays state wrestling champion at 100 pounds is sophomore Lilly Breeden. She was the first-ever women’s state champion last season. She has had an excellent season this year, finishing third in the Dan Gable Donnybrook and second at the Wonder Women tournament. Breeden scored wins at the Greater Kansas City Conference Tournament, the KC Stampede, and the Belton Invitational. She won the Southside Slam, the George Hoover, and the Class 2 District 4 title again. She is ranked #1 in the state.

“This season has been really fun but scary at the same time because my two older sisters, Jaden and Julia, are leaving for college in August, so it will be our last season together,” says Breeden. “I feel like I have improved so much this season, and Coach Laws has helped me improve. Overall, this season has been successful and I’m very excited for state!”
