Waunakee boys lacrosse’s victory leads prep stars of the night
Senior Gunnar McFadden scored with 1 minute, 20 seconds left in overtime, giving host Waunakee a 7-6 victory over Middleton in a boys lacrosse game between state-ranked teams Monday night. Cleveland State commit McFadden scored three goals. Waunakee senior goalie Nate Olsen made 19 saves. Middleton senior James Grosspietsch, also a Cleveland State commit, scored two goals. Those goals both came in the third quarter and gave Middleton a 6-4 lead. Waunakee rallied from a 4-1 deficit, tying the game 4-4 at halftime, and then rallied from the 6-4 deficit.
