UTEP tops Kats to open series

EL PASO — UTEP used a late rally to sneak past Sam Houston 3-0 on Friday evening at Helen of Troy Softball Complex. The Bearkats (15-23 overall) got a solid performance from starting pitcher Amy Abke . She did not allow a run until the fifth inning, but she did not receive any run support as Sam Houston fell to 4-12 in Conference USA.
