Baseball Beats Manhattan, Returns Home to Host FDU

PONOMA, N.Y. — The LIU baseball team beat Manhattan College 8-5 on Wednesday afternoon. Bentley Boekhout's first-inning single gave LIU a 2-0 lead. The Jaspers scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead, but the Sharks answered with four runs of their own. Carlton Harper's eighth-inning single put LIU ahead 8-5, and the Sharks never looked back. Justin DeCastro picked up the win for LIU. The Howard Beach, N.Y., native struck out four batters in three innings of relief. LIU returns home to host FDU on Friday.
