Lawrence drops pair to Rams

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa — The Lawrence University softball team dropped both ends of a Midwest Conference doubleheader to Cornell College on Saturday at Van Metre Field. Cornell won the opener 8-0 in six innings and then took the nightcap 2-0 despite being held to just two hits. In the second game, Cornell scored both of its runs in the first inning on a pair of hit batters, two errors and a sacrifice fly. Lawrence starter Avery Chilson allowed just two hits in six innings of work. She gave up a single in the fifth and a single in the sixth.…
