Welcome to the first MyCentralJersey.com’s Readers’ Choice Baseball Player of the Week poll for the Central Jersey area. The poll features standout players from the Greater Middlesex Conference, Somerset, Hunterdon, and Union counties. Voting closes on Thursday at noon, and the winner is announced after the poll closes.

  • Jaxon Appelman: Senior pitcher/infield - contributed to a key White Division sweep over Sayreville.
  • Jack Byrne: Junior pitcher - bounced back with a complete game, six-hitter to beat Cranford 4-1.
  • Carter Cumiskey: Junior pitcher/first base - hitting .611 with two home runs and 13 RBIs, on the mound, he hasn’t allowed an earned run in 10 2/3 innings with 18 strikeouts.
  • Zach Geertsma: Sophomore shortstop - had a terrific three games in wins over New Providence, A.L. Johnson, and Lyndhurst.
  • Devin Goldberg: Senior second base - went 5-for-13 in four games with six runs scored, eight stolen bases, and six RBIs.
  • Justin Hascup: Junior pitcher/third base - fired 16 strikeouts in a complete game win over East Brunswick, allowing one earned run in 16 1/3 innings with 27 strikeouts this season.
  • Nigel Johnson: Junior infield/catcher - doubled with two RBIs in a 6-5 win against Carteret and drove in three more in an 11-3 victory against New Brunswick.
  • Colin Kassai: Junior outfielder - went 7-for-8 with five runs scored, four RBIs, and a double in wins against Watchung Hills and Franklin.
  • Owen Roth-Zappo: Junior first base - had six RBIs and stole seven bases in a 20-13 win over Wardlaw-Hartridge.
