Petrels lead early but defeated at home

ATLANTA—Sam Mills doubled home a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Oglethorpe baseball team quickly fell into a big hole and was defeated by Piedmont 12-5 Tuesday in a nonconference game at Hermance Stadium. Piedmont responded with two runs in the second, one in the third and a four-spot in the fourth to go ahead 7-2. After that, the Petrels managed to trim the lead down to 7-5 with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
