The 5-foot-9 second baseman was originally from Anchorage but grew up in the Golden State. Staggs spent two seasons in the majors. The Alaskan-born batsman began his career with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1977. His next and final stop would be in Oakland with the A’s in 1978.
