Mammoths rally past Panthers, 4-2 for Coach J..P. Pyne’s 300th career victory

MIDDLEBURY , VT . — Amherst rallied for three unanswered runs Friday afternoon at Forbes Field, earning a big 4-2 win over NESCAC West rival Middlebury and in turn earning head coach J.P. Pyne his 300th career victory. The Mammoths improved to 18-6 on the season, 5-2 in the NESCAC West Division. The Panthers fell to 18-8 overall, 4-3 in the NESCAC West. The two teams are back at Forbes Field tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. Pyne, in his sixth season at Amherst, had previous stops at St. Anselm’s, Daniel Webster and Clark University.
