NEWBERG, Ore. – The Whitworth University men got two event victories and three runner-up finishes, while the Pirate women set a meet record on the opening day of the 2024 Northwest Conference track & field championships on Friday at George Fox University. Both of Whitworth’s teams are in second place with one-third of the events completed. Cody Wheeler won the men’s hammer throw and Zaanan Bane finished first in the men’s lump to lead the Pirates on the first day.
