Tigers score eight early, hold off furious rally for Friday night win

JACKSON, Miss. | Jackson State scored eight first-inning runs and held off an Alabama State rally for a 10-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory at Braddy Field on Friday night. Jackson State (25-12, 9-7 SWAC) jumped to an 8-1 lead after one and pushed the lead to 10-3 through seven before Christian Womble was able to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the ninth inning after the Hornets put six on the board.
