Local sports roundup: Rushford-Peterson softball splits at home tournament
Rushford-Peterson’s softball team split a pair of games for a third-place finish at its home tournament Saturday. In the first game of the day, the Trojans (2-5) dropped an 11-8 game against Goodhue (3-6). The Trojans struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first, and stretched the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the second. However, an eight-run fourth inning by the Wildcats was too much to overcome. Sophomore catcher Torryn Schneider set the Trojans up, and senior shortstop Ellie Ekern sent her home in the first game.
