Bellbrook competition cheer teams fly to victory in Florida

BELLBROOK, Ohio — The Bellbrook High School (BHS) varsity competition cheer teams had a very successful 2023-24 season. The newly added game day building team did extremely well at the local level, earning first place at the Waynesville Spartan Spectacular competition and second place at the Centerville Cheer in the New Year competition. They were the Southwestern Buckeye League (SWBL) champions, qualified at the southwest regional for the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) state competition and took a respective third place (out of the 11 qualifying teams) in the Division III game-day building division.

The traditional non-building competition cheer squad was even more successful this season, placing first at the Eaton Cheertober Fest competition and the Waynesville Spartan Spectacular competition. They were crowned SWBL grand champions and were the OASSA state runners-up in the Division III small non-building category (with 13 teams vying for the title).

BHS’ traditional competition team made its first appearance at the UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) Nationals, held in Orlando, Florida, in Feb. They made it through the preliminary and semifinal rounds and competed in the finals—almost unheard of, for a team competing for the first time at the national level. They were the only team in the area to make it to the final round in the Division II non-building category and are ranked seventh in the nation.

Congratulations to both teams on a very successful season!
