Ranking the 10 greatest Calgary Stampeders of all time
3. Allen Pitts, SB (1990-2000)
Pitts’ beginnings in Alberta weren’t at all a signal of what was to come.
The slotback arrived for a last-ditch effort, having been away from the game for over three years. His name was listed beneath 17 pass-catchers on the depth chart at his first Stampeders training camp.
Over the following 11 go-rounds, Pitts would become the CFL’s most prolific receiver, calling it quits as the league’s all-time leader in catches (966) and receiving yards (14,981). He won two Grey Cups, was a six-time All-Canadian, and was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
