Softball Drops Series Opener at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – App State Softball dropped a Sun Belt Conference series opener Friday at Marshall, falling 7-2 at Dot Hicks Field. The Mountaineers (19-25, 4-15) cut their deficit to 6-2 in the sixth inning, when Kayt Houston followed Grace Barrett's leadoff walk with an RBI double and Houston scored from third on Macy Hamby's fielder's choice. Sejal Neas struck out three batters from Marshall (22-24, 8-11) in 3.2 innings, and Kaylie Northrop allowed one earned run over the final 2.1 innings.
